8th Continent Soymilk Taste of Life Tour- University of Southern California

2009 August 28
by 8thlopez

The day started at 7:30 A.M. when I woke up, dragged myself out of bed at Erin Malone’s house (one of the many rockstars that work at Stremicks Heritage Foods- Home of 8C) and entered the kitchen to try to figure out her espresso machine… and SUCCESS!

I poured my generous amount of Chocolate 8C soymilk and chugged. (Favorite morning drink BTW!)

Erin and I loaded up the back of my newly pimped out car with samples of 8c to take to the university with us.

DSCF1068The visitors’ parking was way at the other side of the USC campus, and being 104 degrees outside, we determined that we better start walking and get some liquids in us. This is USC’s first week of classes so there were tons of students with papers and flyers and textbooks filling up their arms, but I still managed to sneak in a ton of coupons and gave them out to everyone that was interested.

It was a blast! With sweat on brow and coupons in pocket, and my “Lopez was Here!” sign prominently placed at one of the entrances to the university I hunted down their mascot and got a pic with him… and he charged me a kiss on the cheek. Which was fine, but I couldn’t help wondering whether beneath the furry foam head if the person was a female or male. (I was Mickey Mouse at Disney Land for about a month… and everyone assumed I was a male. hmmm….) But Sparky the mascot was very polite, he kept his furry hands in visible places and didn’t try to cop a feel or anything.

DSCF1059I felt like some sort of soy fairy passing out magical samples of 8th Continent Soymilk- and everyone loved it… even more proof that you most certainly should not knock it before you ROCK it!

Next stop, UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA. And I get to stay at the amazing Shattuck Hotel.

Yes, I am Lopez from 8th Continent Soy Milk, and I am a damn lucky girl.

  • Tonight it's getting down in the 40's. Even the clouds here in Toledo, Ohio looked like pregnant snow clouds. Brrrrr. People were walking around in hoodies and jackets and even gloves... I poured myself a generous slog of 8th C. Chocolate into a mug... Put it in the nuker for about 40 seconds.... OMG...Yum! Answered my question about hot chocolate.... It is the best!

Have a wonderful time on your once in a lifetime tour.

    Love, Momma

PS Miss you like a toothache!
