Create Something Saturday- Snowman Sock Hanger

on December 3, 2010

‘Tis the season of Holiday crafting! Let’s start the season with a craft that will bring visitors cheer when they come over. This Sock Snowman door hanger is easy to make and you can make it in different sizes depending on the size of the sock you use.

Supplies:

  • 1 white sock
  • 1 small piece of orange felt
  • 2  small black pom poms
  • 1 thin strip of black felt
  • red ribbon
  • 2 small rubber bands
  • fiberfil
  • sharp scissors
  • fabric glue

Directions:

Begin by cutting the cuff from the sock, cutting across at the heel.

Loosely stuff the toes with fiberfil.

Secure the stuffed sock with a small rubber band.

Fold a piece of the red ribbon in half and tie the ends together with a large knot.

Insert the knotted end of the ribbon into the cut end of the sock cuff.

Secure the cut end of the cuff around the knotted end of the ribbon with a small rubber band.

Place the uncut end of the cuff over the rubberbanded end of the stuffed toe section.

Roll back the edge of the cuff and secure with fabric glue.

Next, cut the orange felt to make a carrot nose.

Apply a thin line of glue outlining the mouth.

Apply the strip of black felt onto the glue line for the mouth.

Add a spot of glue in the position of the eyes.

Place the two poms onto the spot of glue.

Put a little blush on the cheeks to make your snowman look a bit chilly.

You can add a decoration piece onto the snowman’s cap like I did with the candy cane.

Next step- Hang your snowman where everyone can see it to add some holiday cheer!

We’d love to see your DIY decorations! Post a picture on our Facebook Wall or shoot it to us on Twitter.
